Happy New Year

I headed off to the Altona lookout — one of my favourite places in Melbourne. What a view of the storm.

I timed it to see the full moon rise. I was expecting it to rise over the Brighton area, and was astounded to see this. You can see the storm creeping into the frame:

I left before the 21:15 fireworks over Melbourne because it started raining. And it rained and rained and rained.

By the time New Years came around, there were fireworks going off everywhere. I climbed onto the roof and everywhere I looked there were fireworks. It was blowing a gail, raining, and fireworks in a 360° view. Lightning was lighting up the sky and thunder was crashing around everywhere.

What a performance! What a fantastic way to see in the new year.

Happy New TwennyTen!

Fun on Near Year’s Eve

I decided that, since it is possible to see the city from our roof, I would go up onto the roof and watch the NYE fireworks at 9:30.

Sar and I decided that we would then go to Williamstown and watch the fireworks from across the bay. Unfortunately the view that I had in mind had a big round thing in the way of the city. We had a nice view of St. Kilda, however.

This isn’t a shot of the big round thing, more a shot of the water through the fence.

Sar was getting tired and uncomfortable, which is totally understandable at 24 weeks, being out very late at night, and Melbourne being so cotton pickin’ cold for the middle of Summer.

On our way home, we were lucky enough to find a car space just across the road to one of the best views of Melbourne from Williamstown.

Then we went home and went to sleep.
